CPS, (Child Protective Services) has your child? What should you do? Do not trust ANYONE with your personal information online or offline, and I mean TRUST NO ONE.
What Should You Do?
New:
I just created a page on the Adopted Child Search Registry Tab under the (More) option above in the Menu list, for parents and adopted children to post their information, in the hope that one day an adopted child would be reunited with their real parent(s). It's an open Forum style, but you do have to register first to post. Anyone can use this Registry.
If you're a confused, concerned parent(s) because CPS has your child..try not to panic. Pair with other people whose children are in state custody, the more we rally for our cause the more we learn, lets put together all our information and take it to the Supreme Court. Contact me, we can do this, but not alone. DO NOT TAKE ANY MENTAL EVALUATIONS PERIOD, THEY CAN BE USED AGAINST YOU. Secondly, DO NOT volunteer any information to these people. Do not say anything if you can help it. KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT- let them threaten you, most of it are just intimidation tactics nothing more.

Hello. I called CPS for help, then they took my child away from me. They said it would be no problem at all getting her back, over one year later she's still gone. I am now fighting to get her back. My only crime? OCD/Germ phobia that has since subsided. My daughter was born Dec. 4th, 2008. She was only 7 1/2 months old when CPS intervened. CPS has to be able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the child removed was in eminent danger at the time. Abused or neglected. My daughter was none of those.
It is my understanding that all it takes in the state of Kentucky to become a foster parent is to pass a background check and to take a class... that's it. Scary, huh?
So, just remember..you are not alone. I would like this to be more than just a CPS bashing site. Yes, CPS can be a cruel entity and we need to do everything in our power to stop what they're doing now. But there is much more going on then meets the eye. Nothing in life is just one dimensional, indicative of my multidimensional approach. So, browse this site and read all that you can. I'll be adding more info as it becomes available. CPS in my county has a sign outside the building that asks people to come in and Adopt. What a slap in the face when you're coming in for a visit praying that CPS won't adopt your child out.
There are just few things to keep in mind...
Have you ever wondered why a family of children in foster care usually gets returned home? Because it is hard to adopt out more than one child at a time. Have you ever noticed why an infant is harder to get returned to the parent? Because infants are easy to adopt out... Same goes for older children, they are harder to get adopted out, most people are looking to adopt infants and babies.
CPS would like you to think you have no rights, oh... but you do. A case where your child is in state custody can be considered a Quasi Criminal case, and therefore you need to have an attorney that will fight for your rights as a parent, and fight to get your child/children returned.
One mistake we might all make is going to a "rouge" CPS website looking for answers.
These sites may insinuate that you'll get your child back if you do what they say but often that's not the case.
There are even some sites that claim they have Pro-Bono Attorneys. You get all excited thinking you're finally going to get the help that you need just to waste your time and money on a more then likely, long distance phone call to an Attorney that still wants money. Finding a real Pro-Bono Attorney is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. You know they exist but where are they?
In my opinion, Attorneys mostly, (not all) are trying to become Judges and some are real hind side kissers to the court system. Good luck in finding a free Attorney that will actually work in your best interest. Even a paid Attorney might side with the court then with you. Once in a blue moon you'll come across someone who really wants to fight for you and your family, but that's few and far between.
Some sites are for only one particular state, complaining about children not being returned home but not actually going to Congress for the "real" problem. (Trying to get our children returned home.)
For this reason and many others, I am desperately trying to find that one entity that will help all of us get our children returned home. This is my new lease on life. My one reason for being, now that my daughter is gone.
Many people fight for years to get their children back. Why? Because some went off on wild goose chases or refused to cooperate with CPS in some way. CPS is not your friend, they do not care about your status.
Most of these sites have people that are still in litigation suing the State because their children were never returned.
Contacting your State Rep or your Congressman might let them know what's going on, but in almost all cases there is nothing that they can do to get your child returned home immediately or even remotely some time down the road. Contacting anyone in the Federal or State government will not get you immediate results. (If any at all.)
Do not ask CPS for help with your children.
In most cases, CPS will give you one year to finish a "case plan" they cooked up and if that's not completed to their satisfaction they can remove your parental rights.
In court you will be up against the County Attorney, 2 CPS case workers, your child's Attorney, (which believe it or not) sits on the side of CPS.. so now even your own child's Attorney is agreeing that the child doesn't need to be with you.. the father's Attorney (even if they can't find the father he still gets a court appointed Attorney) and yes, sometimes even your court appointed Attorney is not actually siding with you, but with CPS instead. They call this court hearing FAIR???
What about the secretive Pre-Court Meeting "Your" Attorney has with CPS and their cronies in a private room before you enter Court that you're NOT invited to attend? What do they discuss behind your back? What purpose does this serve? Why are you not invited to attend?
Even the Judge, who is supposed to be "fair" will side with CPS. Once CPS has your child, unless you can afford to hire a good Attorney that will fight for your child you will have to deal with CPS exclusively to get your child returned home.
There are however, some really great people out there, but be very careful who you trust. Take what they tell you with a grain of salt. Don't get caught-up in the hook-la. Keep your eye on the ball, (getting your child back home, where they belong). No one can help you get your child back but you and a paid, good willed Attorney.
Mainly we're muddling around in the dark with all of this, just trying to get a grasp on what's being done to our families.
CPS expects you to remain calm and focused at all times, which would be hard for anyone to do considering you've just had your family ripped apart.
